The Advenus project partners and advisory board had two productive and exciting days at the kick-off meeting which took place at the University of Oslo 7.-8. November 2016.
The main goal for the kick-off meeting was to establish a good foundation for the project activities ahead, examine deliveries, and clarify roles and communication.
An important prerequisite for a successful project is to really learn to know the target group. Special attention was therefore paid to adult refugee learners and competence needs. The national refugee situation in the four participating countries were presented and discussed, and we visited Oslo reception Centre for Asylum Seekers and met residents over lunch.
Moreover, we had invited representatives from Academic Dugnad for refugees and asylum seekers at the University of Oslo, Red Cross in Oslo, MOSA, INLO and Norwegian Agency for Lifelong Learning (VOX), who all contributed with their experiences and advices to the project presentations and plans.
Day 1 of the kick-off meeting ended with a private dinner where the partners sosialised and got “a taste of Norway and a view of Oslo”.
Day 2 was used to dive into the details of Intellectual Output 1. The concept of Cultural Sensitivity was reviewed and discussed, and so was the recruitment to our focus groups and interview guides.
Of course, project plans, schedules, reports and economy were also devoted considerable attention, before we all returned back home and continued our collaboration online.
Thank you to all partners and advisory board members for the great effort these two days!
